Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar and cabinet colleagues met Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukkumar on October 1 and submitted a representation seeking a criminal inquiry into alleged misuse of bulk Form-7 applications. This is a new meeting and formal complaint, following Wednesday’s request for constituency-level data.
Shivakumar accused BJP and JD(S) functionaries of trying to remove eligible voters, particularly members of minority and disadvantaged communities. Reports from Belagavi also describe complaints concerning Muslim voters. These are allegations about objections seeking deletion, not proof that the affected names have already been removed or that a party’s responsibility has been established.
Kannada Prabha reports that the election chief sought two days to examine the matter, while Shivakumar demanded immediate registration of cases. ANI reports his call for booth-wise scrutiny and action against false filings. The meeting alone does not establish that the requested criminal inquiry has been ordered. No fresh BJP or JD(S) response to this representation was available in the consulted reports.
