Guwahati police reported seven arrests on October 3 in the investigation into the alleged assault and sexual harassment of a woman at a Khanapara nightlife venue. The expanded total is a substantive development from the two arrests reported earlier that day. Northeast Live and The Times of India carried the updated account attributed to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the eastern district.
The police account says investigators examined available CCTV material after footage circulated on October 2. Those arrested include management and front-office personnel, women bouncers and other people associated with the establishment. Investigators are examining each person’s alleged role. The reported offences include conspiracy, sexual harassment, assault on a woman and attempted murder; these remain allegations, not findings of guilt.
Police also said the venue was operating after its permitted closing time and had not informed the local police station about the incident. They registered a case on their own initiative. The inquiry covers the sequence of events and possible operating-rule violations as well as the alleged violence. This report does not identify the woman or reproduce the footage. No final judicial finding or completed investigation was reported in the sources checked.
