Telangana Congress has asked the state’s Chief Electoral Officer to investigate alleged attempts to remove a Muslim party worker and roughly 30 relatives from the electoral roll in Hyderabad’s Musheerabad constituency. The South First and Siasat reported that the party submitted its complaint on October 1. The complaint attributes the applications to a BJP booth-level agent; that accusation has not been established by an independent finding.
Congress says the Form 7 applications were prepared with printed voter details rather than completed independently by the people listed as applicants. It wants the originals preserved, those applicants questioned and the documents examined for a common source. The party has also requested a wider inquiry into whether similar forms were circulated against its supporters. These are demands for investigation, not proof of a coordinated deletion operation.
The News Minute reported on October 2 that Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy had said the previous day that multiple Form 7 submissions do not automatically delete names. Each request must undergo scrutiny and verification. Notices and an opportunity to respond remain important safeguards before a decision.
The reports reviewed do not establish that the family’s names were actually removed, and contain no response from the BJP or the accused agent. The immediate unanswered questions concern who prepared and submitted the forms, whether the stated grounds were valid, and what the election authorities find after examining the complaint.
